Head of the Department for International Development (DFID) in Nepal Dr Gail Marzetti made a monitoring visit of the DFID funded programmes along with CDP in Jumla from 9-11 May 2016. She was accompanied by Mr Gareth Rannamets, Governance Advisor, Mr Gobinda Neupane, Local Governance Coordinator, and Ms Shailee Manandhar, Senior Programme Manager. 

The monitoring team met the development and political stakeholders in Jumla. They had a meeting with the leaders of the political parties, CDO and LDO of the district. DFID funded programmes CDP, LGCDP, KEP, RAP3 and NCCSP briefed about the respective projects and arranged for the site visits. 

The team interacted with the VDC Secretary of Lamra VDC, members of the Ward Citizen Forum, community leaders and ordinary citizens. They observed and interacted with the members of citizen awareness centre in Lamra-2 and Lamra-7. They also observed the construction site of a school building of Kalika Primary School being built with support from CDP and also talked to the teachers, school management committee and users' committees. 

The visiting team listened to the people as beneficiaries of the development programmes and assessed how effective the development interventions have been. Understanding the development challenges and how they can be addressed to improve the lives of the people was a focused area of discussion. They were very much interested to know about the overall problems and development potentials in the district.
