British Ambassador to Nepal His Excellency Mr Richard Morris and Head of Department for International Development (DFID) in Nepal Dr Gail Marzetti visited Community Development Programme (CDP) implemented sites in Saptari district on 4 October 2016 accompanied by CDP team led by Team Leader Mr Durga Prasad Khatiwada. During the visit, they observed some of the CDP activities and interacted with community people and local stakeholders as well as government officials.

Initially, the team observed the Mudha (bamboo stool) making training in Bhardah VDC and interacted with the representatives/trainees of 18 citizen awareness centres (CACs) on the CDP's support to skill enhancement for income generation of the poor, marginalised and disadvantaged women in Terai region.

Secondly, the team visited the market shed construction site in Siswabelhi VDC and discussed the need and usage of market shed with the management committee and locals. During the interaction, the members of management committee explained their need of market shed in order to protect their agricultural products from sun and rain. Various farmers’ groups and small-farmer cooperatives also took part in the interaction with the visiting team.

Lastly, Dr Marzetti, along with CDP Programme Manager Mr Kulchandra Dahal and CDP Regional Coordinator Mr Ram Dhungana visited Saptari DDC Office in Rajbiraj and discussed with acting LDO Mr Dhirendra Yadav, LGCDP Focal Person Mr Nabaraj Khadka and other development stakeholders about the role of government and coordination among DDC, CDP and other stakeholders. Similarly, Honourable Ambassador Mr Morris and CDP Team Leader Mr Khatiwada had a discussion about the role of different NGOs in the district and their coordination among themselves, with local government agencies including VDC and DDC and CDP Saptari for enhanced coherence and harmonisation.
